In 2014, a small but enthusiastic group of bridge players decided to start a duplicate bridge club at Ma-Te-Way Park in Renfrew. Obviously, they must have done something right. From rather modest beginnings, the Club can now boast of over 150 members and 15 or more tables in play at their weekly 1 pm Wednesday afternoon session. When the members are asked what initially attracted them to the Club, some mention the friendly atmosphere, others comment on the bright, well-lit facility while still others can’t say enough about the Club’s very generous hospitality. Whatever the reason, each week, the Club welcomes players from a wide area; ranging from Deep River to Kemptvile; Denbigh to Arnprior, even from the province of Quebec. In addition to providing a pleasant place to play cards, the Club has supported a number of community groups since its inception, including: the Food Banks in both Renfrew and Arnprior, Hospice Renfrew, Renfrew Victoria Hospital and the Sunshine Coach.

No matter what their skill level, once a player has played bridge in the friendly environment of the Renfrew Club, they’re sure to return again and again.
